Supporting a Regular Planning Cycle

TL Experience/ Learning

Following the development of environment reports from the micro-mapping process, sites prepared monthly Location Activity Plans (LAPs) that were then costed and implemented.

The plan for the new month could not be implemented until the funds provided for the previous month’s activities had been properly accounted for and the data on activities entered into the M&E system.

This required considerable support from the national and regional offices. With this support, local staff became increasingly proficient at planning and keeping to implementation timetables. This is a considerable achievement in PNG where daily challenges arise to smooth implementation.

Establishing clear BOM (Beginning of Month) processes assisted greatly with embedding a clear planning cycle at local level.
